Chinese mobile manufacturer Xiaomi unveiled its 3rd phone in the Mi series. With the huge success of previous models (Xiaomi Mi1 and Xiaomi Mi2); Xiaomi is expecting that the new mobile will surely increase its customer base.
With 5 inch screen the phone is coming with 1080p resolution and is packed in 4.49 x 2.83 x 0.32inch dimensions. With 16GB, 64 GB internal memory options, this mobile also contains a micro SD card slot which supports memory cards up to 32 GB. Weighing just 0.15oz it is considered as one of the lightest smartphones. Coming with ultra sensitive touch the company claims that the touch works even with wet hands or with gloves. The phone comes with a 1.8GHz Tegra 4 processor or Snapdragon 800 CPU (which is considered as the best mobile processor so far) to ensure multi tasking and fast and quick operations.
Interesting features of Xiaomi Mi3 includes Cirrus Logic CS42L73 DAC chip (for sound) which is apparently used in iPhone models. The audio quality is highly impressive and with immersion haptic feedback technique it is fun to use UI elements and play games on this phone. The back side of the phone has 13MP Sony IMX135 sensor with an F2.2 sapphire lens and dual LED option. This will enable you to capture raw images without any difficulty and you can adjust the captured images with the help of beatification app that is present with factory settings. The front side of the phone consists of 2MP camera which is more than enough for the video calling service.
Other positive features include 2GB LPDDR3 RAM, Near Field Communication (NFC) and Wi-Fi with dual band compatibility etc. The 3,050mAh battery is quite impressive and it can last 2 days with normal usage and up to a week on standby. The company charger provides quick recharging to the battery with 2A current. The 16GB storage is also quite sufficient and it works very fast with 120MB/s read speed.
The competition is heavy when the Chinese local smartphone market is considered. As Xiaomi unveiled MI3, its local competitor Meizu announced MX3 and Xiamoi had no option to reduce the price of Mi2S. Xiamoi reduced its price to 290USD from 380USD. The Tegra processor version is limited to china and the international Mi3 phones will be equipped with Snapdragon processor. The price of Mi3 16GB version is 330USD and that of 64GB version is 410USD. The prices of these phones are very less when compared with the internationally branded phones like Samsung, HTC and LG etc. The phone is expected to be available in October in China while there is no word on International release date yet.
Xiamoi had previously issues with availability of devices and delay in shipping. The customer service of Xiamoi is also not so good at the time of release of its previous model Mi2 (in 2008). Xiamoi improved a lot in these aspects and the customer base of company is becoming very large. More than 20 million MIUI users and 11 million image uploads per day into the companies cloud services etc. itself shows the popularity of this mobile brand. With its new model Mi3, Xiamoi will also play a crucial role in the international mobile market.
