Samsung Galaxy Round – World’s first curved phone

All those of you who like to stay updated with the possible upcoming happenings in the smartphone and tablet world, must follow the trusted leaker @evleaks. If you are already doing that, then you might have seen the leaked image of curved display smartphone of Samsung, which was posted by @evleaks on its Twitter account. Here’s a new update regarding that leaked smartphone. The update is — that curved display smartphone has gone official. Samsung Galaxy Round is the name of that smartphone and it is the first phone with a curved display.

Talking about the hardware specs of Galaxy Round, the best eye-popping part, that distinguishes this smartphone from rest smartphone world, is its design. This smartphone has got curves on the vertical axis, which gives it the proud tag of being ‘the first phone with curved display’. Dimensions of this smartphone are 151.1 x 79.6 x 7.9 mm and the weight is 154 g.

Just like the Galaxy Note 3, the Galaxy Round has got 5.7-inche Super Flexible AMOLED capacitive touchscreen that offers resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The pixel density is 386 ppi. The screen supports multitouch feature. Curved display with such an amazing resolution and pixel density, sounds quite interesting, is not it?

Performance-wise, you can expect a good experience from the smartphone as it is blessed with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Chipset and the Quad-core Krait 400 processor clocked at 2.3GHz. The GPU is Adreno 330, and the smartphone packs sensors like Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, humidity, gesture, temperature, compass, barometer. Just like other Samsung smartphones, the Galaxy Round is an Android device. It runs the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

If you are a photography enthusiast, then also Galaxy Round is meant for you, as it has got 13MP Primary Camera with 4128 x 3096 pixels resolution basic features like autofocus, LED flash. The advanced feature-set includes Dual Shot, Simultaneous video and image recording, touch focus, panorama, HDR, image stabilization, face and smile detection. This incredible camera supports video recording of 2160p@30fps quality and 1080p@60fps. Secondary Camera is 2MP that can shoot the videos of 1080p@30fps quality.

Internal memory in Galaxy Round is 32GB which is more than enough. If it’s not enough for you, then simply expand it using microSD card. The maximum supported is 64GB.

Apart from the aforementioned features, the others include S-Voice natural language commands and dictation, Air gestures, Active noise cancellation with dedicated mic, Dropbox (50 GB storage), TV-out (via MHL A/V link), etc. The connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, NFC, Bluetooth, Infrared, microUSB v3.0 (MHL 2), USB Host.

Li-Ion 2800mAh is there in the Galaxy Round. The official talk time and standby stats are not known yet.

Galaxy Round Price & Release Date:

Galaxy Round is limited to SK Telecom in South Korea and will be available on 10th October on this telecom. It is available in Luxury Brown color and costs KRW1,089,000 (approximately $1,015). Samsung will soon be bringing this smartphone in more colors. As of now, there are no words about the release of Galaxy Round outside the South Korea.
